We are so excited to announce the opening of the newly renovated Hog Island Oyster space in the San Francisco Ferry Building, featuring an array of new countertops and features by Bohemian Stoneworks. Working with architect Cass Calder Smith, we developed a U-shaped oyster bar that would house the shucking station and be the visual focal point of the layout; backlit by the bay and centering everything in the room. For the tasting bar countertops, we used a custom cool grey mix in a curved design interspersed with hand-placed oyster shell slices from the original Hog Island oyster farm and included custom drainage systems and built-in glass viewing partitions. The chef’s bar and cocktail bar feature the same cool grey mix with sand aggregate and rounded edges for a modern, smooth finish.
